This factsheet describes changes to aquaculture management that apply during the transition to the new resource management system.

Some changes have immediate effect the day after Royal assent. Most of these immediate changes apply to the powers of the Minister of Aquaculture to suspend consent applications, make regulations and make decisions on the allocation of aquaculture space. However, regional councils have responsibilities to update mapping in certain circumstances.
