Interactive map for waste minimisation, emergency waste and contaminated land remediation projects

The Waste Investments map displays information about projects supported by the six waste investments funds: 

• Te Pūtea Whakamauru Para | Waste Minimisation Fund (WMF) since 2010
  • focused on accelerating the transition towards a low-emissions and low-waste circular economy.  
• Te Tahua Pūtea mō te Kirihou Auaha | Plastics Innovation Fund (PIF)
  • focused on minimising plastic waste and its harm on the environment.  
• Te Whakangao Hanganga Para | COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund (CRRF)
  • focused on waste and resource recovery initiatives. 
• Tahua mō ngā Pae Hawa me ngā Ruapara – the Contaminated Sites and Vulnerable Landfills fund (CSVLF)
  • focused on legacy contaminated sites and vulnerable landfills.
• Emergency Waste Funding
  • focused on waste in emergency events
• Contaminated Sites Remediation Fund since 2019
  • focused on legacy contaminated sites and vulnerable landfills.

About the funds data

Funds data includes active and closed projects supported through funds that have been publicly announced as receiving funding. We will update this data around every quarter (variable by funding round).

It is a useful resource if you are looking to apply for waste minimisation funding or interested in government investment in waste minimisation.

By clicking on dots on the interactive map you can access details of projects in your region or other regions of interest. 

Projects can be viewed by:

• project name and description
• recipient organisation
• project type (ie, community, education and awareness, services, feasibility or investigative, infrastructure, innovation, data collection and analysis, site remediation)
• project impact scale (region, multi-region or national)
• project status (active, closed)
• fund
• funding amount awarded and year
• website link for further information.

You can also filter for information such as 'all infrastructure projects' and download the information.
