To redevelop a 1.2-hectare site, remove an existing retirement village and construct and operate a new retirement village consisting of approximately 80 independent-living residential units and 55 care suites in approximately 4 buildings 3 or 4 storeys in height and will comprise:

  • communal amenity spaces, parking (including basement parking)
  • connections to infrastructure, landscaping and planting.

Reasons for decision

The project will:

  • generate employment by creating approximately 304 direct full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs and 864 indirect FTE jobs over a 6-year design and construction period
  • contribute to housing supply by constructing approximately 80 independent-living residential units and 55 care suites
  • progress faster than would otherwise be the case under standard Resource Management Act 1991 process.

Any actual and potential effects on the environment, and proposed measures to avoid, remedy, mitigate, offset, or compensate for any adverse effects, can be appropriately tested by an expert consenting panel against Part 2 of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the purpose of the Act.
