Project summary

To expand the existing Kings Quarry operation and will include the extraction of approximately 500,000 tonnes of aggregate per year for a period of 60 years, stockpiling and processing aggregate on site, constructing a vehicle access point at the intersection with Pebble Brook Road, internal vehicle access and haul roads, and infrastructure and structures associated with quarry operations and reclaiming permanent and intermittent watercourses and undertaking ecological enhancement.

Reasons for decision

The project will:

  • generate employment by creating 22 direct full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs and enabling employment in the construction sector
  • facilitate construction, including construction of infrastructure, in the Auckland region
  • progress faster than would otherwise be the case under standard Resource Management Act 1991 process.

Any actual and potential effects on the environment, and proposed measures to avoid, remedy, mitigate, offset, or compensate for any adverse effects, can be appropriately tested by an expert consenting panel against Part 2 of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the purpose of the Act.
