Referred projects order

Reasons for decision

The project will:

  • generate employment by creating approximately 45 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs over a 15–24-month construction period
  • have positive effects on social well-being by maintaining and enhancing public access to the coastal marine area, including for recreational use
  • provide infrastructure that may assist with reducing traffic congestion and improving mobility options
  • progress faster than would otherwise be the case under standard RMA process, provided that the applicant lodges their applications for resource consent in a timely manner following project referral.

Any actual and potential effects on the environment, and proposed measures to avoid, remedy, mitigate, offset, or compensate for any adverse effects, can be appropriately tested by an expert consenting panel against Part 2 of the Resource Management Act 1991 and the purpose of the Act.
