This report provides an overview of key submissions points made and recommendations to the Associate Minister for the Environment (Biodiversity) on the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity (NPSIB) in accordance with section 46A(4)(c) and 52(3)(b) of the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).
It is split into two parts. Part A provides context and background to the NPSIB, a summary of the process for developing it, consideration of the consistency of the national direction with the RMA, and an overview of the consultation and submissions process.
Part B outlines the policy analysis and rationale for the proposed changes to each aspect of the NPSIB.
