People and place: Ensuring the wellbeing of every generation: Consultation on the topic for the Ministry for the Environment’s Long-term Insights Briefing 2022

We want New Zealanders to help shape our first Long-term Insights Briefing. Looking towards the future, the Briefing will focus on people and place – the drivers and behaviours behind decisions that impact nature, aspirations for nature into the future, and options to secure that future.

People's collective wellbeing is intrinsically linked to te taiao (the environment). How whenua (land) is cared for affects water, climate, air and native species as well as people's wellbeing. Every generation leaves its mark. While people benefit from land, they are also changing it in ways that will create both opportunities and challenges for future generations. This consultation is your opportunity to share what you value most and what interests you when considering people and place to ensure wellbeing of every generation.

Consultation closed on 20 May 2022.
