New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme interim auction monitor report: 4 September 2024 auction

This report records and provides details on the results of the 4 September 2024 auction of New Zealand Units and provides assurance that the auction was conducted properly and in accordance with the applicable rules and laws.

The auctioning of New Zealand Units is a component of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme. The purpose of the auctions is to align the supply of Units in the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme with New Zealand’s climate change targets. The first auction took place on 17 March 2021.

The Ministry for the Environment is acting in the role of an interim auction monitor. This role is performed independently of the Ministry for the Environment policy team who are responsible for developing the regulations for the auction monitor and auctioning.
