New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme interim auction monitor report: 14 June 2023 auction

This report records and provides details on the results of the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme 14 June 2023 auction of New Zealand Units and provides assurance that the auction was conducted properly and in accordance with the applicable rules and laws.

The Government introduced auctioning of New Zealand Units to align the supply of Units in the with New Zealand’s climate change targets.

The Minister for Climate Change has agreed the Ministry for the Environment will act as the interim auction monitor. This role is performed independently of the Ministry for the Environment policy team who are responsible for developing the regulations for the auction monitor and auctioning.
