Map of New Zealand showing locations of national river water quality monitoring network sites.  Sites are coded with symbols according to whether the site is showing stable BOD₅ or significant decreases in BOD₅ (ie improving water quality). Key feature is that about half of all sites (33 out of 77) are showing significant decreases and these sites are distributed throughout the country.  No sites show increases in BOD₅.
