About the call-in

The Taranaki Combined Power Station was the first application to be called-in as a nationally significant proposal under the Resource Management Act 1991.

In 1993 Minister Simon Upton called-in the application for an air discharge permit and appointed a board of inquiry to make a recommendation.

The board's recommendation was that the permit should be granted subject to conditions. Minister Upton granted the permit on 12 March 1995 with revised conditions.
