About Access to Experts

The Access to Experts service was run by Beca and the NZ Landcare Trust from 2023 until 2025, with support and funding from the Ministry for the Environment.

The aim of the service was to provide specialist environmental advice to individual landowners, as well as community and catchment groups.

Te Uru Kahika – Regional and Unitary Councils Aotearoa support

Te Uru Kahika – Regional and Unitary Councils Aotearoa also has a network of subject matter experts able to provide advice and expertise. The support from Te Uru Kahika enabled direct communication with regional councils and unitary authorities as part of a specialist forum to champion best practice, share information, and collaborate.

Papa Pounamu support

Access to Experts also involved Papa Pounamu, champions for the role of Māori in the Aotearoa New Zealand planning framework and the empowerment and enabling of Māori in resource management, and environmental planning and decision making.

This included connecting with Iwi and hāpu on their missions to restore and enhance their tīpuna awa and roto (culturally significant waterways and waterbodies).
