Whangateau Estuary case study | Rangahau whakapūaho wahapū

The Whangateau estuary is highly valuable for wildlife, historically a mahinga kai site for Ngāti Manuhiri, and is now a popular holiday destination. It was selected as a case study estuary due it’s relatively pristine state and strong iwi/hapū and community connection to test if the management tools developed by Sustainable Seas could be used to maintain the wellbeing of an estuary.
