This report documents the collation and standardisation of measured water quality data collected by regional councils and unitary authorities across New Zealand’s monitored lakes from 1995 to 2024.
It includes preliminary state and trend analyses and summary statistics for measures of bacteria (Escherichia coli), sediment (clarity), and nutrients and nutrient-enrichment (chlorophyll-a, nitrogen, phosphorus, and trophic level index), in New Zealand’s lakes.
The report supports the use and interpretation of the collected data for national environmental reporting.
