This report summarises the underlying scientific principles for evaluating carbon sequestration activities using natural climate solutions. It presents a two-stage science assessment framework, comprising of key principles. This framework can be used as input or advice for the Ministry for the Environment to use in its development of policy and guidelines for how to assess the scientific rigour of proposed new carbon sequestration activities.
