Alternative options suggested included (most numerous first): designations (28), easements negotiated with landowners (8), Minister’s call-in (5), promoting distributed generation and demand management to reduce reliance on the grid (4), risk management under the New Zealand Electrical Code of Practice 34 (2) and clarification of existing-use rights provisions under the Resource Management Act 1991 (1).
