This section 32 evaluation report was prepared to evaluate proposed changes to the National Environmental Standards for Plantation Forestry (now Commercial Forestry) that were identified and consulted on in 2022.
The consultation took place prior to Cyclone Gabrielle in February 2023 and the subsequent events and Ministerial Inquiry into Land Use causing woody debris and sediment-related damage in Tairāwhiti and Wairoa.
The amended regulations were gazetted on 5 October 2023 and come into force on 2 November 2023.
