This fact sheet sets out changes to coastal permits under the Resource Management Act 1991 as introduced by the Resource Management (Consenting and Other System Changes) Amendment Act 2025.
The changes extend the duration of section 384A coastal permits by an additional 20 years to September 2046 and create a new process enabling consent authorities to introduce or modify consent conditions on these permits where necessary.
