The biennial report presents New Zealand’s progress towards meeting its commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
It contains updates on a subset of the information found in New Zealand’s sixth national communication published in 2013.
In particular it provides:
- accounting for the Kyoto Protocol first commitment period, indicating that New Zealand met its target
- up-to-date information on New Zealand's emissions reduction targets, including the 2030 intended nationally determined contribution announced in July 2015
- projections of greenhouse gas emissions and removals
- information on the provision of financial, technological and capacity building support to developing countries.
