Information about the new resource management system
This factsheet describes the new maximum duration provisions which apply to some freshwater-related resource consents issued under the Resource Management Act during the transition to the new system.
Some freshwater-related activities, such as local authority reticulated water supply networks, are exempt from the new maximum duration provisions.
If your activity is not exempt, the new maximum duration will apply to applications made from the day after the Natural and Built Environment Act receives Royal assent (23 August).
