The National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity (NPSIB) will provide increased clarity and direction to councils on their roles and responsibilities for identifying, protecting and maintaining indigenous biodiversity under the Resource Management Act 1991.
This report, prepared for the Ministry by Market Economics, provides a cost-benefit analysis of the provisions of the NPSIB to determine if it will be efficient in achieving the objective of maintaining indigenous biodiversity across Aotearoa New Zealand for current and future generations.
