Managing Upstream: Estuaries State and Values – Methods and Data Review. Stage 1B report

The Managing Upstream project aims to help inform management decisions when establishing freshwater objectives under the Freshwater NPS and increase knowledge on the state of different estuary types in New Zealand.

The Managing Upstream project aims to help inform management decisions when establishing freshwater objectives under the Freshwater NPS and increase knowledge on the state of different estuary types in New Zealand.

Stage 1 of the project is a scoping study to identify key estuarine attributes and also important indicators of estuarine state (state variables).

This is the second of two reports under Stage 1 which focuses on: reviewing methods and data associated with the attributes and state variables identified in the Stage 1A report, and provides comment on how these measure against usefulness criteria. This report provides a short list of recommended estuarine attributes and state variables, and an indication of the potential work required to further develop these in Stage 2. It also provides an Appendix of factsheets on methods used for monitoring of attributes.
