Improving our understanding of the effects of water use on river flows: A case study for the Wellington and Manawatū-Whanganui regions for the period June 2015 to June 2018

This study shows a replicable methodology for estimating the effects of actual water use on natural streamflow. It uses data from the Greater Wellington and Horizons regional councils. It builds on previous methods for estimating the effects of freshwater extractions by comparing daily measured abstraction rates to daily measured streamflow, allowing more precise insights than previously possible.
