Estimated number and valuation of residential properties within inundation/flood zones impacted by climate change

The Ministry for the Environment commissioned an independent external consultant to produce a report that estimates the number and value of residential properties that can be expected to experience at least one damaging flood event between 2026 and 2060.

The Ministry for the Environment commissioned an independent external consultant to produce a report that estimates the number and value of residential properties that can be expected to experience at least one damaging flood event between 2026 and 2060.

This report is one of several inputs that will help inform the assessment of costs and benefits under the Government's national adaptation framework.

The analysis is scenario-based and reflects data and assumptions available at the time of modelling. It presents results at regional and national levels only (not sub-regional level or property-specific conclusions). As with all modelling, the results are subject to uncertainty and may over- or underestimate actual outcomes.

The report does not represent government policy.
