CCC Report V2

Release of the Climate Commission final report

Today Minister for Climate Change James Shaw tabled the Climate Change Commission’s final advice in Parliament.

The report is a major milestone in Aotearoa New Zealand’s journey to becoming carbon neutral and will help the Government set the pathway for meeting our climate change ambitions, as well as our international obligations.

He says "The Climate Change Commission has set out a pathway that would need every part of the Government to come to the table and commit to further action to bring down emissions in their sector. If we can do that, then we can reverse the current trend and finally bring emissions down in line with what science requires. There will be work for everyone to do, so from now on nearly every Minister will, in some ways, be a Climate Change Minister"
