Nes DW fountain v2

Have your say on making drinking water safer for everyone

We have launched a public consultation on proposed changes to the National Environmental Standards for Sources of Human Drinking Water (NES-DW). Your feedback is welcome until 6 March 2022.

Everyone should have access to safe drinking water. We are considering changes to NES-DW to make our drinking water safer, and we want to hear what you think.

The Government is proposing three key areas of improvement to NES-DW to strengthen its ability to protect drinking water sources: standardising the way we define source water areas, strengthening regulation of activities around water sources, and including more water suppliers under the NES-DW.

You can read more about the proposed changes and make a submission using the links above.

Feedback received will help us further refine our proposal to amend the current NES-DW, before the regulations are redrafted and gazetted later in 2022.
