Improving the protection of drinking-water sources: Consultation document

Everyone should have access to safe drinking water. That’s why we are considering changes to the NES-DW (National Environmental Standards for Sources of Human Drinking Water) to make our drinking water safer, and we want to hear what you think.

Three areas of improvement are proposed: standardising the way we define source-water areas, strengthening regulation of activities around water sources, and including more water suppliers under the NES-DW.

Consultation closed on 6 March 2022. Find out more about the proposals.
