Transitional, fees, rents, and royalties regulations

The regulations set fees and royalties for certain activities within the coastal marine area under the Resource Management Act 1991. The transitional provisions as well as the specific fees set by these regulations have been revoked.

About the regulations

The regulations allow regional councils to recover costs related to the consideration of restricted coastal activities.

The regulations also set rents and royalties for:

  • the occupation of land of the Crown in the coastal marine area
  • the removal of sand, shingle or any other natural material from any land of the Crown in the coastal marine area
  • any coastal permit or water permit involving the use of geothermal energy.
