Our new whare and workplace – 8 Willis Street
MfE staff moved into our shared building with Stats NZ at 8 Willis Street in June 2022.
Our new workplace is a sector-leading sustainable and modern New Zealand Government building. It’s designed to enable staff to do their best work, thrive, collaborate and innovate.
Offices are becoming a place where people want to connect kanohi ki te kanohi -face to face. The building offers great spaces to do that.
Each floor has communal spaces where you can hold informal meetings, have a cuppa with your colleagues or just take a moment away from your work. If your preference is a quiet space to work, there are spaces specially designed for just that.
There is a variety of different meeting spaces that can be used. Large rooms for team meetings to smaller rooms for one-to-one meetings with a manager or a colleague. Staff also have a locker to keep their work papers and personal bits and pieces in.
If you are a cyclist or run to work, level 5 has an end of journey space with bike racks, showers and a drying room.
Located in the heart of the city, there are great spots to grab a bite to eat. For those wanting to take a break from work the waterfront is just a block away.
