Be realistic but ambitious when reducing emissions says ACC
ACC’s Chief Financial Officer John Healy says agencies looking to reduce their emissions should create a plan which suits their organisation.
ACC’s Chief Financial Officer John Healy says agencies looking to reduce their emissions should create a plan which suits their organisation.
“And I would encourage organisations to set ambitious but realistic plans,” John says.
ACC is part of the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP) which has been set up to accelerate emissions reductions in the public sector. CNGP requires public sector agencies to measure, publicly report and reduce their emissions, with the goal of being carbon neutral by 2025.
ACC has tackled emissions from its large investment fund by steering away from investments harmful to the climate.
Emissions from its corporate activities such as travel have also been reduced. While they acknowledge part of that is COVID related, they’ve updated technology, changed their business habits and purchased EVs to make the reduction permanent.
Maddie Ashby, Commercial Relationship Manager, says ACC’s focus is now on embedding the gains they’ve made.
“We are really glad to be on the climate change journey with the Carbon Neutral Government Programme.”
