Waste strategy rōpū: Review of appointment process

This is a report on a review of a procurement process that took place in 2020 to set up an advisory rōpū for the draft waste strategy.

A review of the Ministry’s internal processes was commissioned to identify any potential improvements that could be made.

The review finds no evidence or indication of any appointments being made because of any family connections to a Cabinet Minister, nor of any political involvement in the process.

However, the process followed should have been better planned and implemented.

Since then, the Ministry has made improvements and changes. These will reduce the likelihood of similar planning and process issues arising again.
