Waste and resource recovery: Infrastructure and services stocktake

In 2020–21 the Ministry for the Environment funded a project, led by Eunomia Research & Consulting, to conduct a national infrastructure stocktake for the waste and resource recovery sector.

This project involved extensive research and engagement with the sector to identify the services and facilities available, the materials and quantities managed and the key issues and opportunities facing the sector across the range of materials in scope.

The initial summary report from May 2021 is published here. In May 2023 we published a full project summary report, which compiles additional content from the Eunomia-led project.
