Piako Waihou Catchment Group: Review of Existing Data

The Piako Waihou Catchment Group commissioned Roland Stenger from Lincoln Agritech to review the hydrological and water quality data in their catchment. The report was commissioned under the Access to Experts initiative, a Ministry for the Environment-funded service delivered by Beca and NZ Landcare Trust.

The report contains: descriptions of fundamental concepts within land-to-water contaminant transfers; an explanation of existing data and information available in the area; summary statistics for water quality at Waikato Regional Council monitoring sites (nitrogen, E. coli, phosphorus, turbidity, dissolved oxygen); commentary and imagery showing trends in river water quality data from 1991 to 2020; and recommended mitigation measures.
