New Zealand's first biennial report under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

The biennial report is a new requirement and presents New Zealand’s progress towards meeting its commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It contains a subset of the information found in the national communication.

The biennial report is a new requirement and presents New Zealand’s progress towards meeting its commitments under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It contains a subset of the information found in the national communication.

In particular it provides:

  • more specific detail on New Zealand's new unconditional emissions reduction target to 2020, including any accounting assumptions that are relevant to the attainment of that target
  • projections of greenhouse gas emissions and removals
  • information on the provision of financial, technological and capacity building support to developing countries.
