Freshwater biophysical ecosystem health framework

This document describes a framework for assessing the biophysical ecosystem health of fresh water in Aotearoa New Zealand. It will help practitioners working with the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management, and those undertaking environmental reporting, understand and communicate the broad range of indicators necessary to understand biophysical ecosystem health overall. The framework has five core components: aquatic life, physical habitat, water quality, water quantity, and ecological processes.
