Ecosystem Metabolism Application in the Taranaki Region

This short report was prepared by Dr Roger Young (Cawthron) for the Taranaki Regional Council. It was commissioned under the Access to Experts initiative, a Ministry for the Environment-funded service delivered by Beca and NZ Landcare Trust.

The report provides advice on continuous dissolved oxygen (DO) monitoring and how to apply the ecosystem metabolism attribute.

It covers sampling sites, place of monitoring equipment, sampling frequency and duration, usage of sensors with wipers, requirements for average reach depth measurement, and calculation of ecosystem metabolism.
