Details of the request

Our local Transition Towns group is doing work with Matamata Piako District Council, most recently carrying out a series of business waste audits throughout the district.

I am interested in MPDC’s use of waste levy funding provided to them annually by Central Government. Council would have received approximately $100,000 a year for approximately 10 years for a total of approximately $1,000,000 received since the programme was instituted. I am interested in seeing documentation as to how these funds have been spent.

Are there public records of this expenditure? If so, could the Ministry provide me with copies? I have downloaded the fact sheet (“Compliance Reviews of territorial Waste levy expenditure”) from the Ministry’s website. It notes there that the Ministry “aims to review each territorial authority at least once during a three year period”. I am interested in the nature and extent of monitoring of MPDC’s activities and expenditures over the 10-year period.
