Details of the request
Yesterday, I stumbled across a Public service program update from the beehive website in regards to carbon neutrality, published in April 2008. It states that by 2012, it will ensure that “the leads six agencies (Ministry of Environment, The department of conservation, The NZ treasury, IRD, and the Ministry of economic development) will be carbon neutral by 2012.”
This was part of the same report that stated that New Zealand would be carbon neutral by 2020.
Given the current reports are stating carbon neutrality is now set for 2050, I am looking into what went wrong with the first target.
Because of this, given my rights under the official information act as well as my inability to find what I need on your website, I am requesting for full transparency and information in regards to your carbon status. Are you in fact carbon neutral? what are you doing to offset/manage your carbon production? what plans do you have in place (if any) in regards to achieving carbon neutrality, and what are your yearly carbon outputs?
