Under the Public Service Act 2020, government departments are required to produce long-term insights briefings every three years. The purpose is to spark public debate and contribute to future decision-making.
The proposed topic for the Ministry’s first long-term insights briefing is ‘People and place: Ensuring the wellbeing of every generation'. We are seeking to understand the drivers and behaviours behind people’s decisions that impact te taiao (the environment).
Our wellbeing is intrinsically linked to te taiao. How whenua (land) is cared for has a bearing on many interactions across water, climate, air and native species as well as for people's wellbeing.
