The Climate Change Commission (CCC) has delivered its annual advice to the Government on the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) unit limits and price control settings.
The Climate Change Commission (CCC) has delivered its annual advice to the Government on the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) unit limits and price control settings.
The CCC provides independent recommendations to the New Zealand Government about unit limits and price control settings based on its analysis of what’s required to meet emissions reduction goals.
The Government is required to annually align ETS unit limits and price control settings with emissions budgets and the 2050 target. The settings are for the five-year period ahead and help ETS participants plan.
The advice comes ahead of the Government’s annual consultation on ETS settings, set to start in mid-2026.
Following public consultation, decisions on ETS settings will be finalised and gazetted by the end of September 2026.
